PDF to Google Slides Converter
Turn a PDF into a presentation you can open in Google Slides. SlideMaker reads the document and writes the slides; then you send them to Google Drive or download a .pptx to import. Converting needs no account; getting the file out needs a free sign-in.

Why Google Slides cannot open a PDF as slides
Google Slides imports presentation files, not PDFs. Upload a PDF to Google Drive and it opens in a viewer, where you can read it but not edit it as slides.
To get editable slides you need a presentation file first. That is the job of this converter: it reads the PDF, writes a deck from its main points, and gives you something Google Slides can open.
Two ways to get the slides into Google Slides
- Open in Google Slides. In the editor, click Share, then Export, then Open in Google Slides. The first time, Google asks you to let SlideMaker create the file in your Drive. The deck then opens as a Google Slides presentation.
- Download and import. Download the .pptx, then in Google Drive choose New, File upload, and open the file with Google Slides. To add only some slides to a deck you already have, use File, Import slides in that presentation.
Both routes start from the editor after a free sign-in. Converting and editing do not need one.
How to convert a PDF to Google Slides
- Add your PDF to the converter above. Word, PowerPoint and text files also work, and several files can go into one deck.
- Choose Concise, Balanced or Detailed, then pick a theme and generate.
- Open the presentation and make any changes in the browser.
- Sign in for free, then send the deck to Google Slides or download the .pptx and import it.
What arrives in Google Slides
- Text you can edit. Titles and points are ordinary text boxes, so classmates or colleagues can change them in Google Slides.
- The theme and pictures. Colours, layouts and photos from the theme you chose come across with the slides.
- Your content, condensed. The deck is written from your document, not traced from it, so expect fewer slides than the PDF has pages.
- A small label. Each slide carries a "Made with SlideMaker.app" text box in one corner, which you can delete.
Good fits for Google Slides
Google Slides suits work that other people edit with you. Teachers turn a PDF handout into slides and share them with a class. Students convert a reading for a group project and split the slides between them. Teams take a PDF brief and present it in a shared deck that everyone can update.
Limits

Your file is uploaded to SlideMaker so its text can be read.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert a PDF to Google Slides for free?
Yes. Converting, editing and exporting to Google Slides are free and no card is asked for. Exporting needs a free SlideMaker account.
Do I need a Google account?
Not to convert. To open the result in Google Slides you need a Google account, because Google Slides files live in Google Drive.
Will the layout of my PDF be kept?
No. The converter writes a new presentation from your content, using the theme you choose. If you need the PDF pages exactly as they are, this is not the right tool.
Can I share the converted deck in Google Slides?
Yes. Once the deck is in your Google Drive it is an ordinary Google Slides file, so the usual Google sharing settings apply.
Is there a page limit?
There is no page limit, only the 20 MB file limit. Long documents are condensed into a summary deck rather than one slide per page.
Which files can I convert besides PDF?
Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx) and plain text (.txt) files work in the same converter.
